Kim Wilde Combines 80s Nostalgia and Modern Protest in New Single ‘Trail Of Destruction’

The legendary Kim Wilde, who first captured our hearts in the 80s with timeless hits like “Kids in America,” “Cambodia,” and “Chequered Love,” is back with a powerful new single, “Trail Of Destruction.” This track is the first glimpse of her eagerly awaited album, Closer, set to drop on January 31, 2025.

“Trail Of Destruction” is more than just a song; it’s a rallying cry for a new generation. Kim Wilde, never one to shy away from making a statement, draws a direct connection between this track and her 1988 hit “Stone” from the Close album. In her own words, Wilde explains: “I wanted a connection to ‘Stone’… as well as referencing Jack Black’s 60’s inspired ‘Sticking it to the man’ speech from School Of Rock. ‘Stone’ was a protest about the ‘man’ taking ownership of our planet and not keeping their promises to stop messing it up. ‘Trail Of Destruction’ is a protest for a new generation.”

In addition to this electrifying single, Wilde has unveiled the tracklist for Closer, which promises to be a dynamic collection of 10 songs. The album features exciting collaborations, including one with Midge Ure and another with her niece, Scarlett Wilde, adding fresh layers to her iconic sound.

Fans won’t have to wait long to see Kim Wilde live, as she’s set to hit the road for a UK tour in March 2025, bringing her new music and classic hits to stages across the country.

Kim Wilde is proving once again that her music is as relevant and powerful as ever. Stay tuned for Closer and prepare to be moved by the unstoppable force that is Kim Wilde.
